“Your name was unanimously proposed for consideration for nomination to the MIIC Board,” said Dr. Peter Ngategize, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, MIIC in a letter announcing the nomination. MIIC was started by the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) to address the underperformance of previous public sector initiatives in the area of incubation which were very costly and therefore unsustainable. A partnership with Makerere University was aimed at setting up a low cost, sustainable, predictable, replicable and scalable incubation centre.
Speaking about his nomination to the board, Mr. Mushabe said: Receiving this invitation to serve is definitely a humbling experience. So much of my professional life has been committed to seeing entrepreneurs grow and fulfil the objectives of their startups and medium size businesses. For me, this is an opportunity to continue contributing to the development of this sector of our country.
Mr. Mushabe’s nomination is subject to consideration by the appointing authority, the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Treasury and the Vice Chancellor Makerere University. MIIC identifies potential entrepreneurs with the best innovative ideas that use existing or new technology in a range of market sectors such as Agriculture, Education, Commerce, Healthcare, and Tourism. The entrepreneurs are trained, nurtured, and facilitated to scale up from idea to sustainable medium-sized companies.
